We have a team of fully qualified, registered osteopaths who have a wealth of experience in various
osteopathic treatment approaches.

This range of special interests gives us the ability to target the treatment of our patients to the skills of the osteopaths, these include traditional osteopathic techniques, rehab, sports injury, articulations and stretching as well as more functional techniques for example cranial osteopathy.

Muscle pain

Muscular pain can be caused by various things. Our osteopaths will attempt to identify the loading factors causing the resulting muscular pain and attempt to find ways to reduce the underlying causes with the intention of reducing the symptoms and pain.

Shoulder pain

Many different approaches can be used to treat this complex area. This can include articulation, soft tissue work, mobilisation and exercises. These are targeted to the individual problems identified by the osteopath.

Arthritic pain

Although arthritis itself cannot be reversed, the osteopathic concept aims to reduce the pain and restrictive movement caused by degenerative change. We aim to do this by improving the mechanical efficiency of the joints and the surrounding musculature.

nigel

Nigel Bassett D.O. GOsC Reg. Ost.

Nigel was born in, grew up in and lives in Hastings. He studied at the European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone, where he completed the undergraduate, four year course in 1986. Initially he joined practices in Lewis, Seaford and London and commenced the Hastings Osteopathic Practice on a part-time basis in the same year. As the practice developed he gradually reduced his involvement in the other practices and in 1988 opened the Rye Osteopathic Practice, followed by the Bexhill Osteopathic Practice in 1992. These practices have developed over more than 30 years to offering a wide spectrum of osteopathic techniques provided by thirteen osteopaths in total. Nigel also joined the faculty at the European School of Osteopathy initially as an assistant lecturer in 1986 and went on to lecture in orthopaedics, osteopathic medicine and osteopathic business practice. Throughout this period he has been a clinical tutor to the undergraduate students at the college and remains a member of faculty. The aim of the practices, under the guidance of Nigel, has always been to look at the body from a holistic view. By keeping the fees at as reasonable a level as possible, we aim to enable as many people as possible to take advantage of the benefits of osteopathic treatment. During the years when GPs had Fundholding contracts, the practices were amongst the first to receive patients from the NHS on a funded basis. This option grew considerably over the ten year period that this system was in place, which led to GP referrals that continue to this date. However, since the removal of Fundholding, this is now on a fee paying basis. As well as growing up in the locality, Nigel and his family continue to live in the area and be active in the local community.
