nigel

Nigel Bassett D.O. GOsC Reg. Ost.

Nigel was born in, grew up in and lives in Hastings. He studied at the European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone, where he completed the undergraduate, four year course in 1986. Initially he joined practices in Lewis, Seaford and London and commenced the Hastings Osteopathic Practice on a part-time basis in the same year. As the practice developed he gradually reduced his involvement in the other practices and in 1988 opened the Rye Osteopathic Practice, followed by the Bexhill Osteopathic Practice in 1992. These practices have developed over more than 30 years to offering a wide spectrum of osteopathic techniques provided by thirteen osteopaths in total. Nigel also joined the faculty at the European School of Osteopathy initially as an assistant lecturer in 1986 and went on to lecture in orthopaedics, osteopathic medicine and osteopathic business practice. Throughout this period he has been a clinical tutor to the undergraduate students at the college and remains a member of faculty. The aim of the practices, under the guidance of Nigel, has always been to look at the body from a holistic view. By keeping the fees at as reasonable a level as possible, we aim to enable as many people as possible to take advantage of the benefits of osteopathic treatment. During the years when GPs had Fundholding contracts, the practices were amongst the first to receive patients from the NHS on a funded basis. This option grew considerably over the ten year period that this system was in place, which led to GP referrals that continue to this date. However, since the removal of Fundholding, this is now on a fee paying basis. As well as growing up in the locality, Nigel and his family continue to live in the area and be active in the local community.
Richard

Richard Hibbs, M Ost. GOsC Reg Ost

His background has been primarily involved in competing and working in sport, prior to gaining his masters degree in osteopathy he gained diplomas in sports and fitness. Having this background and combined with further knowledge of biomechanics, orthopaedics and osteopathic principles Richard understands what treatment and advice is best suited to achieve a patient’s goals. He endeavours to give patients advice regarding prehab and rehabilitation that is based on recent research in order to assist patient’s long-term management. This would include advice on posture, exercise, mobility, and stretching alongside treatment. Richard treats acute, chronic and sports patients. His primary approach to treatment is structural, which involves treatment modalities such as articulation, stretching, joint manipulation and soft tissue massage. He also trained in sports massage, sports taping and kinesiology taping.

Imogen Bassett

Graduated from The European School of Osteopathy with a 4 year Master’s degree in Osteopathy. She is trained in a wide range of spheres including a post graduate qualification in equine osteopathy. “I wanted to be an osteopath from a young age and consider myself fortunate to be in such an interesting and helpful profession. I love working with people; I love seeing the improvement that osteopathy makes in their lives. Having experienced the benefits of osteopathy first-hand and from a young age, I am excited to be able to do the same for others.”
Cloe-Corbaz

Cloé Corbaz

Cloé graduated from the European School of Osteopathy with a First-Class Master’s degree in Osteopathy. Cloé first qualified as a nursing assistant in Switzerland where she grew up and then decided to expand her knowledge by moving to England to achieve her Osteopathic degree. She is passionate about her job, enjoys treating patients of all ages and conditions, adapting her approach to treatment to suit to each person’s individuals’ needs. During her studies at the European School of Osteopathy, she developed a particular interest in helping patients manage headaches, pregnancy-related pain and treating babies. Cloé likes to apply a multi-modal approach using structural, visceral and cranial Osteopathic techniques.
Kieran

Kieren Garvey

I studied at the European school of osteopathy and graduated in 2022. I consider myself a structural based osteopath with the occasional functional technique. I strongly believe in exercise and that each individual should receive unique prescriptions based on their individual bodies and needs. I enjoy working as an osteopath and the rewarding nature of helping patients with their symptoms as well as generally having lots of interesting conversations. Away from work I enjoy lots of sport, which has meant I’m used to my fair share of injuries in the past, playing football, going to the gym and even playing darts. I also enjoy socialising with friends and family.

We have a team of fully qualified, registered osteopaths who have a wealth of experience in various
osteopathic treatment approaches.

This range of special interests gives us the ability to target the treatment of our patients to the skills of the osteopaths, these include traditional osteopathic techniques, rehab, sports injury, articulations and stretching as well as more functional techniques for example cranial osteopathy.

Muscle pain

Muscular pain can be caused by various things. Our osteopaths will attempt to identify the loading factors causing the resulting muscular pain and attempt to find ways to reduce the underlying causes with the intention of reducing the symptoms and pain.

Shoulder pain

Many different approaches can be used to treat this complex area. This can include articulation, soft tissue work, mobilisation and exercises. These are targeted to the individual problems identified by the osteopath.

Arthritic pain

Although arthritis itself cannot be reversed, the osteopathic concept aims to reduce the pain and restrictive movement caused by degenerative change. We aim to do this by improving the mechanical efficiency of the joints and the surrounding musculature.
